Truly Mid-Winter

20160213-005The sun is bright, the sky is blue and the temperature is -22C (or -37C when you factor in the windchill effect) so wandering too far to take photographs is not wise. Nevertheless, these conditions are perfect for showing off the plants still standing against the cold. The seed heads are from an ornamental grass that still has seeds for the small American Goldfinches to feed on at this time of the year when not much else is available.
