The Guelder Rose (Viburnum opulus) is flowering – a favourite … especially with tiny caterpillars that make lace doilies out of the leaves.
Note: This may, in fact, be Viburnum trilobum which is not Guelder Rose EXCEPT that some American botanists consider it to be a subspecies of opulus rather than a species in its own right, thereby giving nurseries free rein to market it as Guelder Rose. Confusing, eh? It’s rather like the misnaming of the American Robin (actually a Thrush) as a Robin. They do that sort of thing hereabouts 🙂
